What are the requirements for a sales associate license?
To apply for a license, you must be 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, be honest, truthful and of good character.

How do students enroll to take the 63 hour pre-license real estate course?

What if a student fails the class exam?
The state of Florida requires a passing grade of 70% or better. Students failing the end of class exam are required to wait a minimum of 30 days before re-taking the exam. The re-take exam must be different than the original. Students failing to re-take the exam within a one year period are required attend class again. If the re-take exam is failed, students are required to take the 63 hour pre-license class again.

When and how do students apply and take the state exam?
Students may apply to take the state exam by visiting the Department of Business and Professional Regulation website: www.myfloridalicense.com. The application must be notarized and fingerprinting is required with submission of the application. The Naples School of Real Estate provides students with printed applications and a fingerprint card. The school also offers notary and fingerprinting services. Students may apply to take the state exam before; during or after the pre-license Course. The Naples School of Real Estate advises all students to begin this process as early as possible.

Where is the state exam administered?
The state offers testing at 15 locations throughout Florida. The testing center located in Fort Myers, Fl is in close proximity to the Naples School of Real Estate. Visit the testing center website for locations: www.promissor.com.

How is the state exam administered?
The state exam is a computer based test consisting of 100 multiple choice questions related to real estate principles and practices, chapter 475 license law and real estate math.

What does holding a real estate license allow the holder to do?
You may sell real estate anywhere within the state of Florida. There are other real estate services you may perform for compensation also, such as property management.

If an individual has a real estate license in another state, are they required to take the state exam?

State of Florida recognizes ten other states. The states are:

  • Arkansas
  • Colorado,
  • Georgia
  • Indiana
  • Kentucky
  • Mississippi
  • Nebrasks
  • Oklahoma
  • Tennessee

Individuals holding license in these states are required to take a 40 question exam related to Florida License Law. A score of 30 or higher must be achieved to pass this exam.

Licensees from these states are not required to take the 63 hour pre license course.

The Naples School of Real Estate encourages taking the 63 hour pre license course to ensure an understanding of real estate practices in Florida.

Note: Licensees holding a license in all other states are required to enroll and pass the 63 hour pre license course and the state exam.

What are the requirements for a Broker's License?
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school degree or equivalent, be honest and of good character. You must have completed at least six months of active real estate experience, enroll and successfully complete the FREC II Course for Brokers, complete twelve months of active real estate experience, and sit for and pass the State Broker's Exam.

Note: Individuals who have held an active real estate license in another state may apply that experience toward a Florida Broker's license if the applicant has held an active sales associate or broker's license for at least twelve months during the preceding five years. However, an applicant who also holds a Florida real estate sales associate license must fulfill the sales associate post-licensing education requirement before the applicant can begin the FREC Course-II for Brokers.
